AI ultramarathon coach
An AI ultramarathon coach that knows your race.
Train Ultra is an AI coach for ultramarathon training. It reads every run from your watch, compares your training with your race course, and helps you decide what to do next, from your first 50K to 100 miles and beyond.
Big day, and you executed it well. The climbs held steady power with heart rate controlled, which is exactly what you want this far out: strength without digging a hole. Your descents got a touch tentative late, more tired quads than fitness. With your readiness solid this morning, this was the right session to push. Tomorrow is an easy 45 minutes flat and fully aerobic to let the legs come back before the weekend long run. For a vert-heavy race, this kind of specific climbing is money in the bank.
An example evaluation. Every workout gets one, minutes after your watch syncs.
Train Ultra vs a fixed training plan
| What you get | Train Ultra | a fixed training plan |
|---|---|---|
| Reads every run | Yes. Every run from your watch gets a plain-language evaluation. | No. The plan stays the same whatever the run showed. |
| Handles a missed week | Talks the change through with you and proposes Calendar changes for you to review. | You work out the change yourself. |
| Knows your race course | Add a course to your goal to see its climbs and aid stations, and how your training matches them. | Built for a distance, and sometimes for a type of terrain. |
| Uses sleep and recovery data | Yes, from Garmin, COROS, Oura, or Apple Health. | No, unless you adjust the plan yourself. |
| Answers your questions | Any time, from your own training history. | Only the notes that come with the plan. |
| Sends workouts to your watch | With Pro, supported structured workouts go to Garmin or COROS. | It depends on the plan and where you bought it. |
| Cost | Free plan, then Pro at $5 a month or $48 a year. | Many are free, and paid plans are usually a one-time purchase. |
What an AI ultramarathon coach does
An AI ultramarathon coach reads your training data and helps you make the decisions a long race depends on. Train Ultra reads your pace, heart rate, elevation, sleep, and recent load after every run. It writes an evaluation of the run, then answers your questions from the same history.
That matters because most ultra training goes off plan at some point. A cold takes a week, a long run falls apart, or work gets in the way. A coach that has read every run can help you choose the next step for the training you actually did.
Preparation for your race course
Add a race course to your goal from a course file or from one of your routes. Train Ultra shows the climbs, the waypoints, and what the course asks of you. It then rates each demand as Practiced, Limited practice, or Unknown from your own workouts, so you can see what to work on while there is still time.
Your coach can propose Calendar changes for you to review and apply. Race preparation is in Beta and is part of Pro.
Questions you can ask
Should I keep Saturday’s long run after two bad nights of sleep? Is my climbing on track for this course? Should I run back-to-back long runs this weekend, or is that too much after last week? How should I change my fueling after the last long run? When should my taper start?
The coach answers from your own runs and recovery. For numbers such as fueling, taper, and heat, it checks its training playbook, so you get a specific answer and not a general one.
When an AI coach is the wrong choice
If you want someone to watch you run, or you value a long working relationship with a person, hire a human coach. If you have an injury or a medical concern, see a doctor or a physical therapist. Train Ultra provides training guidance, not medical advice.
