Import your Garmin history

Garmin sends Train Ultra only your last month of past workouts. Request your own Garmin data export, then import it in Settings so your coach sees every season, race, and long effort.

Why you need an export

When you connect Garmin, Garmin sends Train Ultra only the last month of your past workouts. Your full history comes from your own Garmin data export, which you request from Garmin and then import into Train Ultra.

Request your export from Garmin

  1. Sign in on Garmin's Data Management page (the link is at the end of this guide).
  2. Select Export Your Data.
  3. Select Request Data Export.

What to expect

Garmin emails you a download link, often within a few hours and sometimes after several days. The email from Garmin has the subject "Action Required: Download Your Data".

The link works for 3 days. If it expires, request a new export.

Import it into Train Ultra

  1. Open Train Ultra on the web at trainultra.app and go to Settings.
  2. In the Garmin Connect card, select Import full history.
  3. Paste the link from Garmin's email and select Import. Or download the ZIP file from the email and select Upload file.
  4. After the link is accepted or the upload ends, you can close the page. Train Ultra emails you when the import is done.

What Train Ultra uses

From your export, Train Ultra uses:

  • Your workouts, with their workout files, for charts, maps, and time in zones.
  • Workouts you logged by hand in Garmin Connect.

Workouts you already have

A workout that is already in Train Ultra is matched, not added again, and a workout you deleted stays deleted. Train Ultra ignores the rest of the archive and deletes the archive within 7 days.

Who can use it

Importing your Garmin history is part of Pro, and of the free trial. Anyone can read this guide.
